See and Do in Singapore

Futuristic Gardens & Skyline Wonders

Where else in the world can you walk through a cloud forest, stroll under 16-story vertical gardens, and sip cocktails atop a boat-shaped skyscraper — all in one afternoon? The Marina Bay Sands precinct is the visual and architectural heart of Singapore. The Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay towers between 25–50 meters and lights up with a dazzling sound-and-light show every evening. The Cloud Forest dome maintains a misty 23°C climate and houses the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at 35 meters. Across the skybridge at Marina Bay Sands, travellers can visit the SkyPark Observation Deck on the 57th floor — offering 360° views over the bay and beyond. It’s a perfect blend of nature, design, and city awe, best visited late afternoon for golden hour and evening magic.

Culture in Living Colour: Chinatown, Little India & Kampong Glam

Singapore’s charm lies in its layers — and the cultural quarters reveal its heart. In Chinatown, heritage shophouses, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and hawker stalls buzz beneath red lanterns and modern facades. Little India bursts with incense-filled temples, sari boutiques, and the vibrant Tekka Centre. Meanwhile, Kampong Glam, the Malay-Arab enclave, is where you’ll find the golden-domed Sultan Mosque, trendy Haji Lane, and textile heritage. These three districts are living testaments to Singapore’s peaceful multiculturalism. They’re also perfect spots for photography, artisan shopping, and food trails — from thosai and nasi padang to bak kwa and mooncakes. Cultural walking tours and foodie excursions are available daily.

The World’s Tastiest Street Food: Hawker Centre Culture

Singapore’s hawker centres are not just foodie goldmines — they’re UNESCO-recognized cultural treasures. With over 100 centres across the city, you’ll find world-famous dishes like chicken rice, chili crab, laksa, and carrot cake (which is neither a cake nor contains carrots). Must-visits include Maxwell Food Centre, home to the famed Tian Tian Chicken Rice, and Lau Pa Sat, set in a colonial-era cast-iron pavilion in the heart of the CBD. At Newton Circus or Tiong Bahru Market, you can sample generations-old recipes passed down through hawker dynasties. A typical hawker meal costs just SGD 4–6 — making Singapore one of the only places on Earth where you can eat a Michelin-rated meal for under $5.

Urban Oasis Meets High-End Buzz: Botanic Gardens & Orchard Road

A morning in nature followed by an afternoon of indulgence — that’s the Singapore way. Start with a stroll through the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a 160-year-old, UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its lush lakes, rainforest patches, and over 1,000 orchid species in the National Orchid Garden. Entry is free (except the orchid garden), and guided nature walks are available. Just 10 minutes away, Orchard Road offers retail therapy across 30+ malls, from global fashion houses to avant-garde concept stores. Between garden serenity and shopping buzz, travellers can see how Singapore balances nature, culture, and luxury in one seamless urban experience.

Best Time to Visit Singapore

Singapore has a hot, humid, and tropical climate year-round, with temperatures averaging 25–32°C. There are no traditional seasons, but rainfall patterns vary slightly. The wettest months fall between November and January during the Northeast Monsoon, with rainfall often exceeding 250mm. June to August tends to be drier, making it ideal for outdoor adventures, beach visits, and festivals. Thunderstorms are frequent but brief, often in the afternoon, and never interrupt the city’s rhythm for long. Thanks to its compactness, efficient transport, and mix of indoor and outdoor attractions, Singapore is a year-round destination — just pack an umbrella and embrace the equatorial vibe!

Warm, Drier & Lively Urban Adventures

These months are among the driest in Singapore, with average rainfall between 110–170mm and temperatures ranging from 25–32°C. Skies are mostly clear, humidity is slightly lower, and it’s a great time for walking tours, rooftop dining, and exploring attractions like Gardens by the Bay or Sentosa without the crowds. Perfect for first-timers and city lovers.

Hot, Hazy & Active Indoors or Out

This period brings hotter weather (26–33°C) and slightly drier afternoons, though brief showers are still common. Rainfall ranges from 100–180mm. Occasional haze may occur due to regional forest fires. It’s a great time for cultural festivals, shopping, and indoor attractions like museums or aquariums — or escape the heat with a dip at Sentosa’s beach clubs.

Monsoon Rains & Festive Sparkle

Singapore’s northeast monsoon season brings heavy, short-lived rain showers, especially in November and December. Rainfall spikes to 200–300mm monthly, with temperatures between 24–31°C. Expect humid days and dramatic afternoon thunderstorms. However, the city shines during the holidays with lights, markets, and events like Christmas on Orchard Road or Chinese New Year festivities in late January.
